Thank you for this Elgiva. People have described the Sinai journeys as life changing and 'A journey of a lifetime'. They are certainly extraordinary and I feel extremely privileged to be a part of them. We don't run many journeys each year, and this one is rather different and special in that it combines the working aspect with a retreat. It would be lovely to have you as a participant on one some day - maybe next year? Hope all is well with you too.

Thanks for the comment about the blog platform. As an illiterate techy, I asked a friend who makes websites to advise on one that I could work myself. His professional advice was to use wordpress. I looked through the themes and decided on the twenty ten, twenty eleven and oxygen themes (I set up three blog sites for the various activities I am involved in. For the Helen Cranston blog I chose twenty ten as I wanted a different theme picture at the top of each page depending on what it was about. It works well for me. Hope this is useful. Your blog lookd fine to me!

Howdy would you mind sharing which blog platform you're working with? I'm
going to start my own blog soon but I'm having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

This post perfectly sums up how I and I'm sure many, many others are feeling about Christmas. My own idea this year was to buy second hand gifts (mainly books) and to give home-made presents. While some may understand the sentiment behind this and treasure such gifts, I am aware that others may not and may even feel I have acted the cheapskate! I will try to keep my courage and stick to my convictions and hope that no-one is too offended! Merry Christmas.

Your post hits a note I think about a lot. We value giving and getting experiences and gifts of time. We give a dinner at our home or out at a local restaurant with family or friends, or a gift of tickets to our college sports team or museum where we can enjoy it with them. The gift that is a favorite in our immediate family started when the kids were younger and didn't have any money is getting books, etc. from the library. The point was to pick out one or more things that the person would love and not have to worry about how much it cost. It made us focus on each other and what we each liked. In 3 weeks, we just return the books and incur no cost or clutter. It's been 6 years and still the favorite part of our Christmas.
